It is just a short trail but very worth visiting. First, it is impressive to see nature taking over after humans leave. Second, it is a fine mixture of all kinds of local trees, with explanations neither too long nor to boring.

The grandfather of my grandfather war born in this small village in the hilly area of Sauerland. Each year, they celebrate a festival of roses, and this year, we finally managed to meet up there.

Moritz in front of my great-grandfathers memorial. He was a wellknown regional writer, and it is impressive how much of his history is still well cared for. There is a huge momorial in the center of the village, and another one in front of the former school, where he was a teacher. There is one big street named after him, and even a small local museum about his life and works. I was especially touched to recognize my (young) grandfather participating in one family gathering in the 1930s.
