Nuthetal, 06.05.2011 Horse riding

Moritz wants and wanted a pet, desperately. Since I am not fond of any kind (especially of birds in cages), we made a deal to go horseback riding once a week instead. It was and is lovely! The farm is situated in the countryside, but not too far from home, and I felt like going on holiday once we arrived there.

Berlin, 07.05.2011 Gardening @ Kinderhaus

Once in spring, once in autumn, we organise a 'garden day' in Mias Kinderhaus to clean up, plant and cut, rebuild and reorganise the garden. It is laborious, but also great fun, and it is amazing to see what a couple of people are able to accomplish in just half a day!

Nuthetal, 13.05.2011 Vaulting

Mia could not stand spending time on a horse farm without sitting on one herself. So she started vaulting one hour a week and it is great fun for her, too!

Taborka, 15.05.2011 DIY circus

My fellow student Daniel is acting in an ecological circus where half of the play is a performance by all attending kids. We had a great time juggling plastic bags and experimenting in acrobatics, while indirectly learning on avoiding waste and the useful effects of reuse. Every sunday, 4pm right next to the Spreewaldbad in Kreuzberg!

Our fortress

Berlin, 18.05.2011 Coming home

It was like christmas and birthday all at the same time: A huge mess of boxes with our Shanghai household stuff and also a lot of furniture, brought in piece by piece by strong men. Of course, it looked like hell first, but now it is so wonderful to have everything back, especially all books reunited, pictures on the wall and our Chinese cabinet. Home has been taken into yet another dimension.

Berlin, 23.05.2011 Climate breakfast

In march, I participated in a training on teaching kindergarden and primary school kids on the correlation of food (and consumption) and climate change. Mias Kinderhaus kids volunteered as guinea pigs and we had a great time eating and exploring!

Moritz school class organized a race with boots and hats, and Mia was fascinated by the possibilities of face painting with glitzer.
