Berlin, 14.03.2013 Good morning

Berlin, 14.03.2013 Suedgelaende
A former railway property. Now a park with railway tracks. Stunning in winter!

Kassel and Aachen, 24.03.2013 Easter holidays?
The kids spent their holidays at their grandparents home, while Tobi was spending his days working in China (I was packing, of course). Some impressions.

Berlin, 01.04.2013 Snap-shot
I will never ever be so stupid again to think renovating a house is a short (and great!) process of materialising one's ideas alongside having lots of fun. It consists instead of seemingly endless visits to plumbers and kitchen retailers, tiling and flooring and lighting studios and the emotional feelings range somewhere between 'wow, this is just wonderful, but how on earth can they charge so much for it' and 'no, I won't buy this stupid IKEA stuff because actually I don't like it too much and I know once I put it somewhere it will stay there until the next move which will hopefully not be any time soon'.
We bought our house a year ago, and the first nine months I really thought there are more intelligent options of burn one's money. It took us just days to take down some walls, but it took weeks to peel off various layers of wallpaper. And it took months to get the necessary construction permits. But of course, time went on and of course, progress showed once the bathrooms were tiled and the floor refurbished. A week ago I started packing and I will also never ever be so stupid again to think our household will fit into 60 boxes. I promise now and here to take pictures once I am finished so that I remember very clearly: we don't need anything else at all because no matter how fancy: we actually have enough. And I will try to never ever call anything (e.g. children's rooms) dirty anymore that can be cleaned within one hour. 'Dirty' is scrubbing a door leaf for one hour each side and realising it is actually white lacquer beneath it all! Sitting here typing it sounds as if I was exhausted which I am but I am highly proud, too: We did our part in the safeguard of the cultural and environmental heritage by fully sanifying a class listed monument. And I think we did a damn good job.BEFORE

DURING

AFTER
We had our first visitors the day after the move. Thanks Annette, Heiner and Birte for bread and salt and coffee (and for being with us)! And we had our first extended family visiting three days after who helped cleaning the overall mess. Thanks for everything, Uschi and Rolf!

Berlin, 14.04.2013 The break
The best day of this month, definitely. We visited the Wildpark Schorfheide and tried the adjacent Kletterwald (climbing forest) - it felt like being on a summer holiday.
