Berlin, 31.10.2014 Scarecrow
Mia was pretty excited about Halloween and insisted on having a new costume to celebrate the occasion. Welcome, little miss vampire!

Berlin, 08.11.2014 Abendbrot
Something that we missed so bad while living in China: great bread, cold cuts and diversified cheese. Actually, it was our appetizer, we had potato cookies, radishes, leek, and beef as mains. Happy to prepare and share with Daniel, as always, forever.

Berlin, 22.11.2014 Cookies and Sushi, DIY
I remember the first years, when baking cookies meant mostly: me preparing cookie dough, with kids eating big chunks raw and smearing it onto all kinds of places, cutting cookies with lots of different forms and the kids attention distracting fiercly after the first sheet. Finally: the decoration, the worst part, with half the kitchen covered in icing and Mia and Moritz happily eating most of the sprinkles while I am trying to save at least some of the cookies for later. It was definitely fun, but also hard work! Now they are older, they can - if they wish - do everything from scratch on their own, and now and then: they actually do. Same with sushi, which we happily prepare with our self chosen indigredients.

Berlin, 24.12.2014 Christmas, feeling blessed
Even the rabbits got something prepared (a salad). I did princess Leias hairdo on Mias head, while Tobi helped Moritz frying fishballs. Karsten came visiting, and we spent some great hours and shared good food.

Berlin, 26.12.2014 Handcraft III
After designing sheep and manufacturing a prototype for a partition, Tobi showed Mia how to do a woodcut. Beautiful!

Heusenstamm, 27.12.2014 First snow
After years of extensive search, my sister Uta and her husband Ralph finally did it this year: they managed to buy and renovate a house in Greater Frankfurt. The occasion of our visit was crowned by perfect weather - after weeks of rain and grey skies and an outward journey through a heay snowstorm, we woke to a clear blue sky and everything covered in white powder snow.

A fine way of sharing books. An old phone box, with lots of shelves, where you can place the books you don`t need anymore, and get yourself new ones.

Santa Claus brought a couple of Japanese DIY confectionary and we took it with us to Heusenstamm since we miss a microwave to prepare the sweets at our own home in Berlin... Very funny!

Wolfsburg, 31.12.2014 Another happy new home
Our close friends Leo and Thorb moved from Berlin Mitte to Wolfsburg last summer, and we were happy to finally have the opporunity to visit them and take a look at the rock solid detached house they own now. We had burgers and sour cream and Chinese fortune cookies of which the best said "Patience is a tree, whose roots are bitter, but whose fruits are very sweet indeed." Happy new year!
