Berlin, 25.08.2015 Auntie holiday

My sister and her boys came visiting for the last week of the school holidays, and she was brave enough to visit Potsdam biosphere, Sanssouci and the zoo on her own.

Taking a look at the former inner-German border: we visited our cousin Felix, his wife Marie and their son Jakob at their neighbouring playground.

The highlight at the end of the week: eating at the food market at the Preussenpark. A group of Asian women - many Thai and Vietnamese- sell homemade stuff right in the middle of a public park - yummy!

Kids most beloved are the drinks, in pink or green or yellow, the strawberry one luckily made "without any fruit inside, just with syrup".

We did not expect to actually find some, but in the end, we did: we proudly present the first autumn catch 2015: porcini.

Moscow, 24.09.2015 Russia

Tobi had to go to Moscow again, this time he had brought some great pictures home!

Berlin, 29.09.2015 Birds

Moritz had planned this for a long time. He went to the bird market in Zwolle, a dutch town, with his grandparents and brought three little white-eyes home with him. Sadly, they did not survive a week. After a lot of sorrow, we decided to visit a local breeder of finches, and chose a pair of common waxbills and a pair of longtailed finches to give breeding birds a second try. Willi and Josi, Harry and Sally are fine so far.

Berlin, 01.10.2015 Boxing mermaid

Mia got a punching bag and a party as mermaid for her birthday. Quite a combination!

The German name of the Japanese tree is much cuter than in English - gingerbread tree. It is simple in appearance, but its leaves turn a variety of pinks and yellows in autumn, and sometimes have a distinctive caramel scent when in fresh autumn colours. We took the chance and ate cookies beneath it, and it was beautiful!
