My aunt and her husband both had invited all of us to celebrate THEIR big birthday of 150 years. So we travelled to Pfalz, a wine region in the southwest of Germany we never visited before. We rented a small hut in the middle of a chestnut forest, and we enjoyed collecting chestnuts and roasting them on top of our stove, and even though it rained, the landscape was just magical and misty - stunning.

After weeks of seemingly endless rain, we had one clear blue sky on a sunny day and used the opportunity to visit European bisons, wooly pigs, lynxes and deer. In addition, we acquired the most extraordinary collection of pumpkins for Halloween.
