These last years, winter wasn`t quite cold enough to thorougly freeze through the Berlin lakes. So this year, we enjoyed it even more, took our skates and enjoyed the crispy cold until our ankles hurt and the sun set.

After celebrating both Daniels and my birthday on time, we visited my father to celebrate his three-quarters of a century (!) slightly later. Aachen welcomed us with warm and sunny weather, shining as always!

Strange times we live in. Three exhibits. One even weirder than the other. Number one: The artist got stuck in rush hour in a subway car in Shanghai, and being squeezed in between all of these strangers he had a sudden (very positive) feeling being reminded of his physicalness. He used the inspiration to build an inflatable machine to remind all of us that we all are in fact physical beings. My friend Uli commented, how sad that we seem to need a machine to be reminded...

Exhibit number two: You could wait in line to get a place in a morgue to either experience the last living moments of Whitney Houston or Lady Di. It should actually relieve your fear of death. Tobi dared to go along with Lady Di, the sound of the paparazzi cameras, the smell of the car and the tunnel, the sound of the crash and finally the ambulance. I did not dare.

Exhibit number three: Culture of Fear. No pics. Just an experience to understand the concept of introducing fear into the general public to achieve political power and goals through emotional bias.

Tobi and Moritz went on a long-distance-short trip to the Bodensee for Moritz' participation in an ornithological workshop. They stayed one night in Radolfzell, visited Vivian and her family in Freudenstadt and returned via Palatinate.

Kassel, 12.04.2017 April weather

Typically for April, the weather switched from sunny and warm to rainy and cold. We made the best and still petted newts, visited the island of Siebenbergen, and watched a very smoky Easter fire on Moritz' birthday. Happy Easter everyone!
