Berlin, 06.06.2017 Workcamp Magical Garden

Four days, approximately 15 people. One neglected plot behind the Museum of Natural Science. Day one: Clearance.

Day two: Substruction.

Day three: Movement of bark mulch (13 tons) and top soil, construction of hugel beds.

Day four: Construction of the terrace.

First utilisation of the magical garden: creation of bottled gardens with the general public at the Long Night of Museums.

Berlin, 17.06.2017 Our pine tree

We love the general atmosphere of the area we live in, and a lot accounts on the presence of so many beautiful old pine trees, planted at the end of the 1920s, when the architecture was built, too. Most of those gigantic trees are in their 90s, so we thought it is time for a rejuvenation. We found "our" pine tree in the front garden of our neighbours, and replanted it last year to our back garden, and now we are happy to announced its first shooting up. Since it sprouted in 2013 just as Fridolin was born, we can compare the two of them growing! Tiny Fridolin tree.

Berlin, 21.06.2017 Iga and Gerhard

It took us just a couple of years to chose a date and plan the trip. But last autumn, we realized that my aunt Irmgard -shortly Iga, since my sister couldn`t pronounce it better- and her husband Gerhard simply needed to visit the IGA mentioned above while it lasted. So finally, in June they both grabbed the opportunity to look and see where we live.

Lutherstadt Wittenberg, 06.07.2017 Refugees

Bielefeld, 08.07.2017 ... really?

Catching up with my friend Sonja. We needed a city in the middle between Berlin and Bergisch Gladbach. And we took our choice: Bielefeld. We ended up in a weird apartment overlooking wide parts of the city center, and spent most of our time outdoors. We had great food, and enjoyed the old town being car-free. And we had a splended dinner in the GlueckundSeligkeit (AuspiciousnessandBliss), a former church with a restarant and a fancy bar.
