Laczynska Huta, 02.08.2017 Poland
After moving back to Berlin from Shanghai, we tried our best to show various parts of Europe to our kids, who had a better knowledge of Asia than Europe back then. After Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, England and Scotland, Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Iceland and France, it was finally time to make a visit to the neighbour to our East: Poland. We chose a region southwest of Gdansk, because of its charming landscape: the so-called Kashubian Switzerland.

Gdanzk, 05.08.2017 Dominican Market
I couldn`t believe my eyes: even though approximately 90% of the buildings were destroyed in the Second World War, Gdansk was reconstructed beautifully and holistically. A little bit tiring was just the overall presence of the Dominican Market, which made the historic city centre far smaller and congested than necessary.

Gdanzk, 08.08.2017 Second attempt
We ate in the same restaurant, because the food was so nice, but we walked longer paths to explore the city further with Uschi and Rolf.

Wdzydze Kiszewskie, 09.08.2017 Open-air museum
A collection of old huts, houses and even small churches, renovated and well worth seeing.

Bytow, 11.08.2017 Castle

This is Chlodnik, a cold soup made from beetroot, cucumber and dill. The best food I got to know newly while in Poland.
